At Give Us A Start Foundation, we believe that social impact and skills development can enable a sustainable future where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. We see the trends, the urgent need for improved livelihoods, the undeniable shift to a digital first world, the critical importance of green and climate resilient practices, and the vital importance for true gender inclusivity. Our programs are specifically designed to meet these challenges head-on, providing sustainable social impact and skills development in underserved communities. We started our programs in Roodepoort, Gauteng, but we soon hope to share them across South Africa and the African continent.

This includes training in tech skills that open doors to burgeoning industries.

For example, in our woodwork programs, participants learn not just craftsmanship but also sustainable sourcing, waste reduction techniques, and the creation of durable, long-lasting products that minimize environmental impact. Similarly, our knitting, sewing, and culinary skills training emphasizes food security through sustainable practices, local sourcing, and reducing food waste, promoting self-sufficiency and environmentally conscious living. We equip individuals with skills that benefit both their livelihoods and the planet.
